Apple has released two new iPhone ads that continue the ‘If You Don’t Have an iPhone’ theme.
The two new ads highlight FaceTime and AirPlay – as great features you can only get on an iPhone. It strikes me as a more than a little ironic that FaceTime is featured in this way – as Apple originally promised it would be a cross-platform technology, one you could use on devices other than iPhones. So far they’ve delivered nothing in that area.
I’m still not a fan of this series of iPhone ads – as I’ve said before here, I think they are a bit too much and a bit too arrogant. I think older iPhone ads were far simpler and far better – they showed off the iPhone and great apps for it, without having to say anything about if you don’t have one, well poor, poor you. The old approach seems a lot classier.
And yes I know the ‘I’m a Mac’ campaign always knocked Windows – but for me it did so with a fair bit of humor and flair. These iPhone ads don’t have that – it’s just an ‘iPhone is great, all the rest suck’ sort of vibe.
You can catch these latest iPhone ads at Apple’s YouTube channel.
