AppleInsider is reporting that the much rumored, next-generation MacBook Air, which is expected to be released this month, will have a backlight keyboard. The original MacBook Air had a backlight keyboard, but when Apple released the redesigned the MacBook Air last fall, it lacked a backlight keyboard.
Apple currently only offers a backlight keyboard on their MacBook Pro line of computers. The lack of a backlight keyboard was a major complaint for some customers.
So, The new MacBook Air is expected to have utilize the new Thunderbolt I/O and the Sandy Bridge Intel CPU architecture. There are also rumors that the new MacBook Airs will be equipped with a new type of DDR 2.0 SSD. Furthermore, reports suggest that the only reason this new machine isn’t for sale yet, is that Apple is waiting for the release of OS X Lion, so that the new computers can ship with it preinstalled.
