AppleInsider is reporting on the speculations of Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims that the upcoming MacBook Air refresh will sport a minimum of 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM. This of course, is the same refresh that has been rumored for some time, which Apple is withholding until the release of OS X Lion, so that the new machines can come with the Lion preinstalled.
In comparison, the currently shipping MacBook Airs ship with a minimum of 64GB of SSD and 2GB of RAM across the board, with a BTO option of 4GB or RAM. The report also claims that the RAM will still be connected to a separate board, and will not be soldered directly to the logic board as other rumors suggested.
Kuo also reports what we’ve heard before: The new MacBook Airs will utilize Intel’s Sandy Bridge CPU architecture. Specifically, they will use 1.6GHz i5-2467M, 1.7 GHz Core i7-2637M, and 1.8 GHz Core i7-2677M.
This is very specific information, which gives it credibility. It appears the MacBook Airs, and OS X Lion will not be released this week. So, we’ll try again next week.
