Apple Recalls Select iMac Segate 1TB Hard Drives

overview_hero4_20110119.pngApple is in the process of sending out emails to customers who purchased an iMac equipped with a 1TB drive between May and July of 2011, to alert them to the new iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program. Apple states that a small number of these machines are being affected by hard drive failures under certain conditions.

Users with a defective hard drive can go to their local Apple Store, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact 800-APL-CARE to set up a repair. On a similar note, if you aren’t sure if you own an affected machine, you can enter your iMac’s serial number here, and it will tell you if you are eligible for the program.

Lastly, Apple will continue the replacement program until July 23rd, 2012. At that time, they will assess the situation and decide if the program needs to be extended.
