Awhile back it was reported that Apple was using SSDs supplied by both Toshiba and Samsung. Out of the two, Samsung supplied Apple with SSDs with faster read/write speeds than offered by Toshiba. Simply put, users would get luck out, if they received a MacBook Air with a Samsung drive.
Engadget is now reporting that that Apple is still using SSDs from both suppliers in the new MacBook Air as well. With that, Samsung is still offering faster SSDs. Average users likely won’t notice the performance difference, but high-end users and users doing intensive tasks may notice the difference.
