The China Times is reporting that the next-generation iPhone will be released on the second week of September with 4 million units on standby. Furthermore, suppliers are prepping 400,000 units for a trial run. They also claim that the next-generation iPad’s launch will be delayed until Thanksgiving due to component shortages.
Of course a mid-September launch of the next-generation iPhone has been expected for some time now, and will likely be introduced alongside the iPod refreshes this year. Additionally, iOS 5 is expected to be released at this time as well.
As for what the next-generation iPhone will look like, is in the air at this time. We’re hearing conflicting reports- some saying it will look nearly identical to the iPhone 4, others such as yesterday’s report, claim it’s getting an overhaul.
As for the iPad launching in late November, you can forget about it. That’s too late into the holiday buying season for Apple, let alone any company to roll out a new product and hope it’s under every tree for Christmas morning, especially a hot seller like the iPad. We’ll see a new iPad in the Spring, just as we have for the past two releases.
