Apple Releases Apple TV Software Update, Brings New Features Including Vimeo Support and Ability to Stream Purchased TV Shows

162257-apple_tv_black.jpgApple has released an iOS update for Apple TV which brings several new features to the device. First off, Apple has added Vimeo support, so you can now watch video content from that service (much like YouTube).

Secondly, and in my opinion more interestingly, Apple has added the ability to stream purchased TV shows to your Apple TV via Apple’s iCloud service. That is, a user can now purchase, not just rent, TV shows from their Apple TV, and stream them down from Apple’s iCloud servers. Of course, you can also stream any previously purchased content from iCloud as well.

Also worth noting, the iTunes Store for iOS and Mac/PC has seen a back-end update wherein TV shows have been added to the “Purchased” section. That means you can re-download previously purchased TV content, the same way that you have been able to re-download music from iCloud since June.
