Hold Your Horses. Apple’s ‘iTunes Replay’ and Netflix Competitor Are Still a Ways Off

After all, Cult of Mac has essentially retracted their statement that Apple was on the threshold of killing the Magic Mouse. But I digress. CNET is reporting that Apple’s rumored “iTunes Replay” service, a feature that would allow users to download movie content they’ve already purchased from iTunes, multiple times. With the possibility of negotiations limping along for months to come, and at best four out of six of the studios signed on, we likely won’t see “iTunes Replay” anytime soon.

All of this speculation was sparked by Apple’s recent introduction of streaming, and the redownloading of, TV shows purchased on iTunes, to users Apple TV, all of which hinges on iCloud technologies.

Lastly, CNET quickly squashes the idea that Apple is limbering up to introduce a Netflix competitor anytime in the near future. The report claims that Apple doesn’t have any deals in place for such a feature to come into existence as of this time.
