It is being reported that hidden in iOS 5 beta 5 are clues that Apple will indeed be including speech recognition technology in the final release of the OS. 9to5Mac has posted an image of a microphone on a key on the soft keyboard. This button, of course, will likely be used to invoke speech recognition features.
The most intriguing part of this, is the fact that Apple went through a lot of trouble to hide this feature. The UI elements are in place, but currently hidden. Even when the UI elements are activated, the remaining technology is not in place for the feature to work.
Apple went to such lengths that they even renamed the UI elements involved. For instance, the microphone button was renamed “forward delete key”. In other words Apple is going farther than usual to hide this feature, and we all know they like to hide forthcoming features.
