Apple and Others Facing Class-Action Suit Over eBook Pricing

A class-action suit has been filed against Apple and five out of the six major book publishers under the claim that these companies “colluded to increase prices for popular e-book titles to boost profits and force e-book rival Amazon to abandon its pro-consumer discount pricing.” This will be interesting to watch pan out. The pricing of ebook does seem to be high, but are these companies really artificially inflating the price? [Read More]

Apple Threatened to Leave Intel Over Chip Power Consumption

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that in Intel’s $300 million effort to produce lower-powered chips for their Ultrabook initiative, was spurred on by Apple’s demand for low-power chips. Of course, Apple uses these chips in their MacBook Air line of computers, and if rumors are correct, will be using them in thinner MacBook Pros. A long story short, Apple threatened to go to another chip manufacturer if Intel couldn’t produce. [Read More]
