United Airlines has announced that they are transitioning from traditional flight bags, and will now be using the iPad in it’s place. The airline is currently deploying a staggering 11,000 iPad units throughout their fleet.
As for software, the devices will have Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck installed, which is a free download in the App Store, but requires a paid subscription for their services.
The announcement goes on to state that the iPads will streamline the pilot’s workload by eliminating the need of printed paper, and the excruciating effort the pilot has to muster to rummage through their flight bag.
It’s a cool move nonetheless.
