Just yesterday a report surface with a degree of certainty, that the next-generation iPhone is coming to Sprint. Today we’re hearing from MacTrast that the next-generation iPhone is coming to T-Mobile USA. This would bring the iPhone to all four of the major carriers in the US.
The funny thing is that AT&T is planning to acquire T-Mobile, so if the iPhone is indeed coming to that carrier, it will be interesting to see what AT&T does after the acquisition. If that happens. Come to think of it, there is a lot of “ifs” in this equation.
Also worth mentioning at this time, is the fact that T-Mobile USA claims that they already have one million iPhones running on their network. The funny thing is, this is technically possible, but running on T-Mobile’s network, the device would only run at EDGE speeds, and could be lacking other features.
The iPhone currently works on T-Mobile Germany, where the carrier is a major network, so it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination to see the device on T-Mobile USA.
At least there is talk of the iPhone coming to other carriers, and thus a wider US market. If Apple will actually do it, is another question entirely.
