Man Behind JailbreakMe.com Hired as Apple Intern

iphone-hacker-2-11.jpgAs we’ve reported here before, JailbreakMe.com makes it incredibly easy for a user to jailbreak their iOS device simply by visiting the site. The man behind the service was simply known as Comex, and he made a surprising announcement today via Twitter:

It’s been really, really fun, but it’s also been a while and I’ve been getting bored. So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple.

Yeah that’s right, Apple hired him as an intern. The man behind the Cemox name is 19-year old Nicholas Allegra (via Forbes), a Brown University student from Chappaqua, NY. Allegra described his work as “like editing an English paper”, meaning he looks for errors in the code, and then exploits them.

Allegra is obviously good at what he does. Firstly for his elegant solution for jailbreaking iOS devices, and secondly for Apple picking him up for his expertise. He’s not alone however. Apple also snagged Peter Hajas, the man behind MobileNotifier, earlier this year, also giving him an internship.

Undoubtedly Apple will be rolling Allegra into the security team at Apple, and use his skills to tighten security on the iOS platform. It would also be reasonable to assume, both by his statement on Twitter, and his new position at Apple, he will no longer be developing for JailbreakMe.com.
