Not So Fast: No iTunes Subscription Services on the Horizon After All?

apple-tv-copy1-copy.jpgJust days after we heard from the Wall Street Journal that Apple was working on new technologies for pushing video to televisions, which subsequently revived rumors that Apple was working on a TV subscription service that could rival cable television, a new report has surfaced refuting these claims.

The new report from CNET claims that a subscription service from Apple is still not expected anytime soon, if ever at all. They source one of their own, earlier reports regarding “iTunes Replay”, which also noted that such a service was not coming. Additionally, they point to Apple’s recent discontinuation of TV show rentals as further proof that the company is not making any headway in the market.

The report wraps up by claiming that Apple has proposed several different business model to content providers, but has made a serious push for a subscription plan. Instead, the company has been pushing more for cloud service support from the media companies.
