OK, so this is probably not what you were expecting given the post title. You could’ve been thinking ‘Oh here we go, another porn app slips through the App Store filters’ – but this one is not a porn app. Or at least I hope it isn’t. It’s Big Ass Fans, for the iPhone and iPad.
It is one of the most bizarre apps I’ve seen in the App Store though. Here’s a slice of its App Store intro:
You’ve seen a Big Ass Fan® in your favorite restaurant, gym or store. Now you can see a Big Ass Fan in your own home or business. This app uses augmented reality to place a Big Ass Fan on your ceiling using your device’s camera. See what a Big Ass Fan will look like in your home or business without installing it.
And a few of its key features:
· Visualize a Big Ass Fan in your space using the intuitive interface by placing a fan using your camera or an image from your camera gallery
· Save your photo for viewing, or share it through Facebook, email and more
· Browse a gallery of images to see how a Big Ass Fan can add impact to any space
· Get detailed product information and contact a Big Ass Fans sales representative
This app makes me feel like I’ve lead a far too sheltered life. I haven’t expanded my horizons sufficiently. Because I have to admit I have never even once considered visualizing a big-ass fan. I’ve never had the slightest urge to share photos of big-ass fans, and definitely never felt an urgent need to contact a big-ass fans sales rep.
Any big-ass fans fans here? Should I expect to see this app at the top of the app charts very soon?
