Business Insider has posted an interesting post describing Apple’s secrecy regarding pre-release hardware. This individual was one of the first outside developers to work on the original iPad.

This person describes a situation wherein their work had to be conducted in a room without windows, and the locks on the door were changed. Only three other developers were allowed in the room, and they had to give Apple their names and social security numbers.

Furthermore, Apple has special cases around the iPads so the developers couldn’t see what the devices actually looked like, while also having chained to desk.

Even though Apple had strict security around the devices, the internet still managed to produce some blurry photos of the device prior to launch. Proving that all the security in the world can’t stop everything.
