Apple likes control, so I read their advertising as “all your APPLE devices”.

Their website mentions PC, but part of me wonders whether they will just make data accessible within iTunes, and won’t have the level of integration that Dropbox offers.

Lastly, Apple makes no mention of Android devices: “iCloud stores your content so it’s always accessible from your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.”

1. I’m on iOS 5 Beta and the backups while my phone is on my Wifi at home is awesome. I’ve even restored from iCould on the last beta upgrade flawlessly.

2. iCloud integration with apps. Yes Dropbox is in a lot of apps and I use it and actually search for those apps but I bet iCloud will be adopted even more and “just work.”

I didn’t use mobileme so I don’t have any bad experiences, yet!

Apple is opening up key file sync and document sync to devs, and from what I understand, they can implement this however they want to. There will always be a place for Dropbox, but it sounds like iCloud will be a lot more seamless. I can already see this with Photo Stream in the iOS 5 beta. If document sync is just as good, then it will be extremely useful.

Speaking of backups, my iCloud backup has already saved my backside once. I have also been impressed with the fact that it reliably backs up at least once per day. I don’t think I have backed up to iTunes in over a month now. Other than having a local backup before an upgrade, there isn’t much reason to back up to your PC anymore.

The only issue that I have is that you can’t restore individual apps from iCloud at this point. You can see each app that is backed up up in your list, and see how much space it takes up, but you can’t restore just that app. This would be really handy if you either screw up something or accidentally delete an app.
