Sandy Bridge E Processors Due in November, Likely Candidate for Mac Pro

Screen shot 2011-04-21 at 10.48.17 PM.pngVR-Zone.com is reporting on the claims of a Turkish site by the name of DonanimHaber, which notes that Intel will be rolling out Sandy Bridge E processors on November 15th. Server-class Xeon versions of these processors are expected to introduced at the same time. Xeon chips of course, are what Apple has traditionally used in their Mac Pro line of computers.

The Mac Pro hasn’t seen a refresh in well over a year, and was rumored to be receiving an update in early August. That of course, didn’t come to pass due to the lack of a release of suitable processors by Intel. It’s also entirely possible that Apple could introduce a new Mac Pro before November 15th, seeing as Intel has granted Apple early access to processors in the past.

If Apple does indeed go with this processor for the new Mac Pro, it is likely that they will use the E5-2620, E5-2650 and E5-2670 models, which could allow for machines to have as many as 12-16 cores.

In other words, if your still waiting for a new Mac Pro, hold in there another month or two; Apple is likely to make a big update.
