VMware Fusion 4 is the latest new version of the popular virtualization software. It offers 90 new features and is optimized for OS X Lion.
In VMware Fusion 4 there’s support for Lion’s LaunchPad, Mission Control and more. It’s said to be ‘even more Mac-like’ and to boast better performance and faster graphics. Noticeably missing from the promo materials I’ve seen for it is any mention of full-screen support.
Vmware is offering VMware Fusion 4 for $49.99 to both existing (upgrade) and new customers as a ‘promotional’ price. This matches the upgrade cost, and undercuts the full, new price by $30, of its leading competitor, Parallels Desktop.
For more details or to buy it, go to the VMware Fusion 4 page.
I’ve used both VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop on my MacBooks and both are stellar apps. I switched to Parallels a little over a year ago and it’s been superb ever since. I recently updated to Parallels Desktop 7 and I’m very happy with its performance so far.
So I won’t be trying out VMware Fusion 4 – but I’d love to hear your thoughts on it if you are upgrading to it or have bought it for the first time.
