9to5Mac is reporting that two new iPhone models are on the way. The device with the internal identification number of “N94” will replace the iPhone 3GS on the low end, while Apple will also be introducing a new “iPhone 5” to replace the iPhone 4 on the top end.
Now for the bad news. The report is claiming that the tapered iPhone 5 design is seeing production delays, which means possible shortages into 2012.
As for the obvious, Apple is quickly running out of time in September to hold their traditional media event used to introduce their new iPods, and as the case with this year, new iPhones. Regardless, when Apple does announce the products, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be shipping soon after.
Traditionally, Apple has made it a point to release a big announcement like the new iPhone, within weeks of its introduction. Add in the fact that Apple is quickly going to bump into the holiday shopping season, so an announcement can’t be far off now.
