Macworld is reporting that Apple has made a change to the Mac App Store, and now offers warnings to users attempting to purchase apps that are currently installed on their machine that were purchased from other sources than the Mac App Store.

It’s worth noting that for these warnings to take place, the exact same version of the application has to be installed on the users’ machine, as well as the App Store.

The report goes on to note that there still isn’t a way for users to incorporate their applications that were purchased elsewhere in the lists of installed apps on the App Store Application. That would be a true way to prevent double purchases.
