New Photos Surfaces Showing Partially Assembled Next-Generation iPhone

Last month images began to surface which were believed to be of the logic board for the next-generation iPhone. Today, more images have surfaced, but this time, the components appear to be partially assembled, and indicate that at least this next-gen model, will have an iPhone 4-like form-factor.

These images also show that the device will be equipped with an A5 processor. The same chip currently used to power the iPad 2. Also, as we’ve pointed out on numerous occasions, it is still unclear what the next-generation iPhone might look like. Will it be the same as this device and take on an iPhone 4-like form-factor? Will it have a new design? Will there be one of each?

At any rate, if the rumors are to be believed, and Apple does release two models, this “iPhone 4S” presumably destined to replace the iPhone 3GS, appears to be equipped with an A5 chip. This would be a deviation from Apple’s normal pattern of introducing new chips on the high-end, and moving last year’s model down to the $99 bracket.

In short, it seems almost certain that we will see a new iPhone in the coming weeks that looks very similar to the iPhone 4, but is equipped with an A5 chip. What remains to be seen is if the other rumors are correct, and we will see an additional, high-end model similarly equipped with an A5 chip, but featuring a new case design, and other new features.
