
The Next Web is reporting that Apple board member Al Gore has let it slip that Apple will be introducing “new iPhones” next month. This would be the first public comment from the top brass at Apple in regards to the subject.
Of course, the plural “iPhones” revives the rumors that Apple will be introducing two new iPhones this fall: the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 is expected to be a complete redesign, while the iPhone 4S is expected to take a form-factor very similar to the iPhone 4.
Plus, it’s not entirely certain how much information Gore would have regarding the new products. Board members are usually involved in the bigger, more business-y aspects of a company, not product introductions. That said, Gore could would most certainly have knowledge of when a major product would be announced.
While we’re on the subject of businesses and iPhones, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse while attending a Goldman Sachs investor conference, dodged iPhone questions. He claimed that the company’s financial guidance does not take the iPhone into account.
Also, it seems unlikely after a supposed internal T-Mobile USA memo leaked, that the company will be added to Apple’s list of carriers in the U.S. In fact, the memo flatly states “We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year.” So there’s that.
