According to John Paczkowski at All Things Digital, the date for Apple’s next big media event, featuring the unveiling of the iPhone 5, is set:
Tuesday, Oct. 4.
That’s the day Apple is currently expected to hold its next big media event, according to sources close to the situation, where the tech giant will unveil the next iteration of its popular iPhone.
If that’s correct, or even close to correct, then the big remaining question is when the iPhone 5 will be released and available to buy. The AllThingsD report says ‘within a few weeks’ – which is pretty much a given.
Once the event date gets confirmed / announced, the big guessing games can start on release date and new features and so on. For now the release date is top of many people’s minds. There are guesses out there covering the gamut – from the same day it’s announced to AllThingD’s within a few weeks.
Fortune Tech has a good chart up showing how release dates have related to announcement dates during the history of the iPhone and iPad. Check it out HERE.
I’m going to go with the sort of pattern we’ve seen for recent iPad and iPhone releases and say within a week of the announcement event.
What do you all think? When will we see the iPhone 5 hit the stores? And are you saving your pennies to grab it on launch day?
