iTunes Music Store Coming to 10 New EU Countries Soon? [UPDATED]

itunes10logo380.jpgRzeczpospolita, a Polish newspaper, is reporting that Apple will be rolling out the iTunes Music Store in ten new countries in the European Union. The timing of the announcement is unknown, but it would make sense if Apple were to unveil it, at least to that audience, simultaneously with next week’s event.

Only three of the ten countries are named: Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The other seven countries are not named. However, there are currently twelve countries in the EU without an iTunes Music Store. They are as follows: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. It is believed that Cyprus and Malta will continue to go without due to their small geographic and population sizes.

If Apple does indeed add ten countries to their list of countries they offer the iTunes Music Store in, it would mean a large increase. See, Apple currently offers the iTunes Store in about 25 countries.

Also worth noting at this time, is the fact that Apple is already beginning to role out iTunes movie content in European countries that the iTunes Music Store already exists. Some of the countries seeing the new content are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, and Sweden. It’s also being reported that paid iBookstore content is showing up in the Swiss and Italian stores at this time.

UPDATE: Apple has now opened up the iTunes Music Stores in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. That’s including Cyprus and Malta, the two countries where it was uncertain if Apple would open stores.
