As a major new feature for the iPhone 4S, Apple introduced today, Siri, a voice recognition feature that can answer questions, and do tasks based voice input.
Users are able to do such things as send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and so on. Apple also claims that Sir understands the way you talk, so no more phrasings tasks so that the computer can understand. It just works.
Sir understands complex questions such as “Will I need an umbrella this weekend”, and knowns instantly that you are requesting weather information. Another example would be “Remind me to call Mom when I get home”. Siri automatically knows who “Mom” is in your address book, and schedules a reminder for you to place the call.
Siri will be launching as a beta with support for American, UK, and Australian English, French, and German. Apple plans to add additional languages as time moves forward.
Apple seems confident, and if it works as promised it’s bound to be amazing.
