Missed in all the excitement yesterday, was Apple’s posting of the gold master build of iOS 5. Unless there is a show-stopping bug discovered, this will be the version released to the general public on October 12th.
Apple notes that developers need to use iTunes 10.5 beta 7 to install the gold master build, as the build will not be available via an over-the-air update. They also note that users should back up their devices to iCloud before the update.
Apple also released a GM build of Xcode 4.2. This build can now be used to submit iOS 5 applications to the App Store for review.
Continuing the thought, Apple is now sending out emails to developers, urging them to submit their iOS 5 apps ahead of the official October 12th OS update.
