Gartner has released a report outlining personal computer shipments for the third quarter of 2011. Apple saw 21.5% year-over-year growth and is now third in the US market. The PC market as a whole only grew 1.1% So, that shows how much momentum Apple has at the moment.

As for marketshare, Apple now holds 12.9% of the PC market. That’s up from 10.8% in the year-ago-quarter. That said, Gartner did not include Apple in their worldwide numbers, because Apple does not rank in the top five worldwide PC vendors. I wonder if those numbers would jump dramatically if they included the iPad?
