A great suggestion, don’t upgrade iphone 3gs to ios5, not compatible for the phone.:)

Hi i’m a 12 year old and I would like to know if I should upgrade my 3gs to ios 5. I’ve heard that there are a lot of problems. Advice????

This is why apple will not last. After everybody realizes that iPhones are all hype, and that apple is always a year behind android, and that windows sells way more than apple for a reason, they will lose their customer base. But before that happens people need to realize that you are a lot cooler when you do research into what you buy instead of buying the product with the most TV airtime

In reply to Iain. Installed IOS 5 two weeks ago. Was good up untill the last two days. Its working so slow. Sometimes exits music app when switch tracks. Real slow performance. I have jailbroken it right after upgrade, not many features added. So i dont think its the issue with the jailbreak. I think the device itself is a little slower for the IOS 5. But... battery seems to last longer, thats for sure.

My 3gs phone was unlocked and i accidentally put the ios 5 on 13.11.11 it’s locked again. Do anyone know if i can get it unlocked?

Did the ois 5 last night and my 3gs is running so slow when on 3g but fine on wifi. So wish I didn’t update. Also some icons disapear and mysteriously reappear WTF

I have the 8bg 3gs and I updated to ios 5 on monday and everything was working but no service, so no phone calls text messages!!!! I tried everything looking on internet nothing. Then I went in the nearest Apple store and after they tried everything they gave me a new own ios 4.3.5, mine was still on warranty.
Why apple doesn’t give the possibility for downgrade?
Now of course I am scared of trying the upgrade again.

i have the 8bg 3gs i got it braND NEW A WEEK AGO THEN DID THE UPDATE N WAS PISSSED SOO I WENT TO APPLE STORE YESTERDAY TO RESTORE CUZ ITUNES WOULDNT WORK. N THEY
GAVE ME A NEW ONE

STICK WITH IOS 4.3.5

THE IPHONE 3GS IS GREAT WITH THAT

Upgraded a few days ago, and I find that the phone runs HOT, and when it does, battery drains. Example: I charge the phone fully every night. Yesterday I made it home last night with 51% of the battery left. Today, I noticed it was down to 7% by noon. Baffling. Oh, and it’s slow as xmas.

You can do custom text tones with 3GS. I had some other
ringtones installed before the upgrade and they are all there
for choosing as a text tone. I believe the vibrate thing is
there too, but I don’t usually use that. Hope that helps.

In reply to Zala. This is locking Auto Exposure and Auto Focus..so when you click on one spot to focus on you don't let auto focus to change it again before taking the shot.

I'm also concerned about my stereo having problems playing music from the iphone or calls on bluetooth. have you tried hard resetting the iphone? that worked for me when i upgraded a few times. (push down home button and power button down at the same time for a few seconds)

I am running ios 5 on a 3gs, and it looks like I can’t really run the Reminders app. I can open it, but it doesn’t respond to tapping on the lines to add a new reminder. Any ideas?

Using 3GS with ios5
In camera mode, if you tap and hold the screen about 3 secs, you will notice that the auto focus blue square will some kind if “flashing” and when you release your finger, small indication “AE/AF Lock” appear.
Not sure what it mean, perhaps auto focus off ?
