Apple has announced that their opening weekend of sales for the iPhone 4S were over 4 million units. This blows past Apple’s previous record of 1.7 million units for the iPhone 4’s opening weekend.
Furthermore, Apple has announced that 25 million iOS device users have already upgraded to iOS 5. Another 20 million users have also signed up for iCloud.
I would wager this strong launch is due to the number of launch countries included in the roll out. The iPhone 4S debuted in United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK over the weekend, and is slated to slated to be introduced in 22 more countries on October 28th, and will be offered in a total of 70 countries by the end of the year.
