I’ve had a boatload of cases for my iPhone 4, as well as for all my other iPhones in the past, but the BookBook Case from TwelveSouth is the classiest of the bunch.
The case, as you can see, resembles an old, worn book. Its hand-sewn leather exterior seems sturdy, and would definitely protect the iPhone from a drop. It does add some bulk, but it’s no bigger than a standard wallet. When you open the case, you see several pockets for credit cards as well as a place for your I.D.
It’s a little awkward at first just because of its design, if you really like it, you’ll get used to it (I really like it).
Holding the iPhone to your ear for phone calls also takes some getting used, as you have to fold the cover back to hold it comfortably.
Access to all buttons is made easy, with a cut-out for the mute switch, which is big enough to also accommodate the iPhone 4S mute switch, which Apple placed slightly lower than the GSM version. To take a picture, simply pull the red ‘bookmark’ tab up, and slide the iPhone up about a quarter inch or so to expose the lens and flash.
Typing with this case takes just a tad getting used to, and is, at first, slightly awkward. You can choose either to fold the cover back, or just let it hang.
Since your iPhone is essentially in your wallet with this case, if you lose it you can use the Find My iPhone App to not only find your iPhone, but your wallet as well.
All in all, I really like this case for its looks as well as its functionality.
