OK, toss out all your remote controllers, Griffin has you covered.
This little box, called the Beacon, connects via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPad or iPod, and combined with the Dijit Universal Remote Control App, lets you control your TV, DVD player, Home Theater, etc. I’ve played around with this for a few days now, and I can say I’m pretty impressed.
In order to use this device, you need to get the Dijit App:
The Dijit App is the GUI for your remotes. It allows you to choose all your devices from a huge list (I found mine with no problem).
It only takes a few minutes to set up your devices (plus, there’s a slight learning curve), and then it’s go-time.
After ensuring your remote is set up properly, you can assign an activity, such as Watch TV, Watch A Movie, Listen To Audio, etc. There is even a TV Guide for your area that you can use to browse channels, choose a channel, get info for a show, or even manage your Netflix account.
If you’re using your iPhone as the remote, you can even set it up to pause the show you’re watching if you get a phone call!
For those of you trying to find that Holy Grail of universal remotes, this may be the one.
It’s priced at $79.99, which is pretty good considering you get a completely customizable universal remote that can be conveniently controlled by your iPhone, iPod or iPad.
Lots more info on the Griffin website.
