Gmail has launched their native app for iPhone and iOS today – and it is available in the App Store now. Here’s the App Store intro for the app:
Get the official Gmail experience for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
With the Gmail app, you can:
● Receive notification badges for new messages
● Read your mail with threaded conversations
● Organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting, and reporting spam
● Keep track of important messages with priority inbox
● Auto-complete contact names as you type
● Send and receive attachments
● Search through all your mail
It’s said to have an optimized interface that with these quick actions:
- Pull down your inbox to rapidly refresh if you’re eager for new mail
- Swipe right to view your labels without ever leaving your inbox
- Swiftly scroll through dozens of emails just by sliding your finger
The new app is universal, designed to run on iPhone and iPad, and will work on all iOS devices running iOS 4 or greater.
I’ve only just installed it on my iPhone 4S and iPad 2. It pops up a notification error on first launch on both devices and then lets you continue as normal. I’m sure we’ll have more thoughts for you soon, as we get to know the new Gmail app.
Here’s an App Store link for Gmail; it’s a free app of course.
