I do not understand why Apple does not seem to get it. The scope of the issue is not limited to IOS any specific version and is not fully even captured by usage patterns. You can google for any IOS version that has existed and find forum and internet posts and articles on the same simptoms of battery issues. They often start after updating. Sometimes obviously they come with your device right out of the box. The same thing applies. An installation was done on the device even if you didn’t do it. There is to at least some degree, and I think the majority of the problem is caused by, a problem common to installing and running IOS. I do not understand why Apple can’t debug the issue by running diagnostics on devices collected from exchanges of devices at Apple stores where they have a device right there that is obviously demonstrating the problem. It seems they are making little adjustments here and there to compensate for battery usage, but not addressing the root cause. I wish I could say this is the only buggy issue Apple has in IOS, but it is far from that. I continue to use their devices because I am visually impaired and use IOS for its accessibility through the use of the voiceover screen reader so that I can use the device without sight. That access is not matched on any other platform and no other platform currently even comes close. Otherwise I am absolutely sick and tired of Apple’s quality control issues and I think the only thing that will even possibly cause them to address quality control issues is enough bad press that impacts sales.

I downloaded 5.01 yesterday and have seen a big increase in standby time. I don’t think battery life has gotten better when actually using the phone. But most of the day, my phone is not being used so it is benefiting me greatly.
