I use Ice Clean weekly and it really maintains the speed. I had a problem with the NYTimes RSS when I deep cleaned Safari but that has been my only problem. Don’t EVER shut Ice Clean down before it’s done or really bad (unrecoverable) things will happen.

After upgrading to Lion however, it got unbearably slow. So I went from 2 GB to 8 GB, and now it is faster than ever.

So, to anyone wondering about a RAM upgrade: just do it.

I am planning to upgrade my memory, too, did you also notice significant speed improvements? I have 4GB installed an notice that most of the time only a couple of MB are free since Lion. In addition the MacBook Pro seems to pause for a certain amount of time when opening new tabs or switching applications.

Even after upgrading to Lion on this same old system. I even keep tons of tabs open for weeks at a time. But running Firefox and Chrome at the same time is asking for punishment.

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to 8GB tonight as well! Ever since I installed Lion I also noticed things were starting to drag. Now that I have 8GB it is making a world of a difference. I’ve seen huge improvements in launching apps and in particular loading iPhoto with an expansive library of photos.

I installed 8GB of RAM on my Macbook 13 the day I bought it (a few weeks ago) and I use up all 8GB’s of my RAM constantly just by running Firefox and Chrome (with a lot of tabs open).

It’s so frustrating. I’m using an app now that free’s stagnant memory but it takes forever to clear it out and 5 minutes later, I’m almost out of RAM again.

Ugh… So frustrating. I would upgrade to 16GB if I could =/
