A survey of American teenagers shows that only money and clothes are higher up their Christmas wish lists than Apple products. Researchers at Piper Jaffray have been doing a pre-holiday survey asking American teenagers what they want for Christmas for 22 years – and they’ve seen Apple products moving up in the results over recent years.
This year money topped the wish list with 22%, followed by clothes at 15%. Apple products accounted for 11.2%, with the iPhone and iPad numbers climbing while iPod numbers dipped.
- 3.4% asked for an iPhone, up from 2.5% in 2010
- 2.5% an iPad, up from 2.2%
- 2.1% an iPod, down from 3%
- 1.3% an iPod touch, down from 3%
- 1.1% a Mac, up from 0.8%
For those of you with teenagers, does this look like how things would pan out in your house? I’ve got an 8 year old, and I have a feeling her wish list would have about the same sort of ranking – with the Touch being higher than an iPhone (only because she knows she is not old enough for a phone)
