Anyways, I would’ve made it all about the wait that everyone went through about the iphone 5. And emphasis everyone hoping for a bigger screen, a different design, and all the other rumors the people wanted. And then finish the ad with “the phone you want is already here…the samsung galaxy s2” 😀

Wow! Totally missed that one. I guess we are guilty of following the pack. After I read the first few comments which were about phones i totally forgot it was supposed to be about users. I’ll see you tomorrow!

Before revealing the winner, I should mention one quick thing on these contests: pay close attention to the challenge we set out for you. Many of you today did not follow it – you talked about iPhone features and specs vs. Galaxy. But we asked you to name the one character trait about iPhone users you would poke fun at. So very few entries were even passed through to the second round of judging.

Anyway, our winner today is:

April Johnson.

Congrats April! And please keep an eye on your Inbox and spam folders – as I’ll be emailing you very soon to ask for your shipping details.

The Samsung Galaxy S II could ask questions and get humorous responses, such as “How long is the line at the Apple store?” Siri replies “3 days, 2 hours, and 11 minutes, good thing you bought THIS phone” or “When will the new Apple iPhone come out?” Siri replies with “Magic 8 Ball” answers, “The outlook does not look good.”

Here is my commercial:

A few hipster friends are taking a hike in the woods on a beautiful trail. They are using their iphone to take pics, tweet, text, use GPS, etc… Then one of them decides to make a call… Dang… no reception!
One friend asks “Dude, are you holding it right?”

With horror, each one watches as their battery life drains and soon no one has a working iphone anymore.

They panic big time!!! “Oh my god we are in the woods and no one will find us” they all scream.

Then a couple passes them on the trail carrying a Samsung Galaxy S II and they all breath a sigh of relief and “ooh and ah” over the working Samsung phone.

I can picture them saying every type of question to Siri. So in the next ad, Siri would slowly become sassy and suggest to the iphone user to throw away the iphone and get the Galazy S II.

You could end it with the iPhone user asking Siri how to get a bigger screen and her directing him to the local AT&T store (or what ever carrier.)

Show all kinds of different people with android phones, each enjoying their phones, meanwhile you have a group of iPhone users all dresses the same and sort of zombie looking who together say “I want an iPhone!”

In comparison to the iPhone which never changes in screen size, the SII dwarfs the iPhone. My commercial would feature someone with large hands. Someone like Jaws from 007 or Andre the Giant or even Big Foot. This character is trying to touch a small icon but can’t quite get it and selects the wrong thing evertime and gets frustrated. Eventually throws the phone. Then he picks up a Samsung Galaxy S II which has a ginormous 4.3 inch super AMOLED screen and is happy because his big thumbs hit the icon dead on everytime.

You KNOW what I mean, ApplePals. In the ad, I’m picturing a person discussing the Galaxy to an apple. Samsung would show/discuss a great feature of the Galaxy and the apple would smirk: “But, I am an Apple.” The ad would end with the spokesperson taking a bite out of the apple and commenting “Wow – that’s one sour apple!”

You would have the animations/shortcuts for keystrokes (wifi/3g/4g/bluetooth)/notifications shown on the Galaxy and iPhone. It would start off the iPhone user about to get onto a plane and needing to get into airplane mode. It shows him having to go into settings to turn it off while the Galaxy user just hits the shortcut on his home screen. While on the plane it shows off the larger screen through videos. Next it would show him getting off the plane and trying to connect to a bluetooth device (earpiece maybe?). The iPhone user again has to go into his setting to try to find what he wants and then connect where the galaxy user just simply presses the key for bluetooth and voila. The commercial would accent the ability to easily access those abilities/the galaxies excellent ability to customize home screens (showing backgrounds/apps moving/etc.) I know i’ve had problems with bluetooth connections on my iphone, so I would put some emphasis in that.

It would have people with the s2 watching some kind of news video or streaming web cast and the iPhone users trying to and being frustrated because they cant. S2 user “the iPhone doesn’t have flash?”
iPhone user “no. I can never watch the good stuff and it makes me mad!! Can I see yours?”
S2 user “haha….. No the at&t store is over there. Go get one.”
iPhone user “I think I will. I might finally be happy with a phone!!”

I would have a close up, side by side, comparison of how the two phones look (shape and screen) while on separate turn tables with the caption “2012” or “2011” (and have a crowd of people around the iPhone). Then go to a similar scene of the two phone, while having the iPhone look identical to the previous scene but have then have Samsung phone look like an out of this would futuristic awesome design with the caption “2020” on the TV screen (or something in the near future)…..then go back to the original scene but zoom out and show a banner over the Samsung phone “Start of the Revolution”….

Option 2: same concept but go year by year with the iPhone never changing and the Samsung getting better and better and every year the crowd gets smaller around the iPhone and greater around the Samsung…but still have the banner saying “Start of the Revolution”

Misread. I would make fun of the fact that Siri is still in the beta stages and it was still released. I would also point out the fact that it doesn’t even works sometimes. Pointing these things out feels like a sin. My commercial would consist of an iPhone user and a Samsung Galaxy S II user. The Samsung user would challenge the iPhone user to a speed test and the iPhone user would use Siri but Siri would end up having the error message of failing to retrieve. End.

What I would point out is how the Galaxy S II can do a lot more just by looking at it. I’d probably do something set at say a snow lodge with people on the slopes with their gloves on and it is too cold to remove them and how they can just look at the phone and get a decent amount of info without even unlocking.

So the ad could show an iPhone user saying how he/she is busy bragging about his/her awesome display background and how cool it is to customize the background and shows off his/her impressive looking background. Then the Samsung user passes by and says ” pfft you think that’s cool?” and shows his/her phone and how he/she can add all sorts of widgets and apps to his home screen and how interactive the home screen and background look. Then the iPhone users do their typical “what’s that what’s that??!?!” and one of them goes “ugh…it’s a Samsung”.

They’re copying the company they mock.
