Here’s a riddle for you: when isn’t a skin a skin?

The answer: when it’s a carapace, obviously.

That’s probably the best (or maybe the silliest) way of describing the new hard cases for the iPhone 4/S and 3G/S from Gelaskins, which feature much of the artwork you’ve come to know and love, but none of the softness of vinyl. Instead, these $35 cases are really more like plastic armour painted over by really artsy machinery – great for both taking and making an impact.
