Itsy [ v 2.1.8 ]
Picked by: Alex Jordan
My pick this week is a little Twitter client from Mowglii called Itsy. It’s everything you need from Twitter, and nothing you don’t. Oh, and it’s very tiny. Even though it is small, it makes getting to your Twitter feed a breeze by neatly presenting you with the twitter messages you subscribe to. If you don’t like they way it looks right out of the box, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t, there are a handful of free skins, which are a snap to install, available as free downloads.
For some, this Twitter client may not suit the way they use the service, but it works perfectly for me. This little guy even has Growl support, which is a plus for power users. Its a free application, and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store, or through Mowglii’s website. It’s definitely worth a look.

Banters [ v 2.0 ]
Picked by: Thomas
Banters is a strangely attractive Franken-social network. It’s supposed to be a cool little way to save and share bite-sized posts – kind of like that bird-related service we use to spout Cleverness in 140-character increments – but I still don’t quite get the purpose. Posts can be “hearted” and commented on, which lends a bit of a Tumblr-esque vibe to the app, although I’m not sure why I wouldn’t just post these things on a Tumblog or on my own Twitter account.
What Banters does have going for it is a clean UI that’s reminiscent of a very good mobile website theme, but with all the speed benefits of being a native app. I also really dig the icon. It basically boils down to my having every reason to like the app, but no reason to use the service – but perhaps you might?

Snapheal [ v 2.0 ]
Picked by: PatrickJ
This is a really fun and capable image editing and manipulation app for the Mac, from the lovely folks at MacPhun (who also do the excellent FX Photo Studio apps for iOS and Mac). It does the basics in terms of image editing and adjusting (crop, rotate, flip, adjust brightness, contrast, exposure etc.) It also lets you adjust just specific areas of an image, and clone and stamp.
The feature I am using the most often and the one that drew me to the app is its Erase tool. It’s super simple to use, fast at rendering, and extremely effective. It’s great for everything from just removing a few blotchy areas on a photo to getting rid of major parts of an image.
This may not be a Photoshop competitor, but it’s quite a capable app – and the Eraser tool is super impressive. Oh, and it currently comes at a very reasonable price.

ParkBuddy [ v 1.0 ]
Picked by: Renkman
This week I’m choosing ParkBuddy as my pick. Now, ParkBuddy may not be the first app of it’s kind–however, what it does do, it does very well without cluttering up the user interface with unwanted or unnecessary bells and whistles. That’s something I very much appreciate, and that’s the kind of app I tend to gravitate to more and more these days. Do one thing, and do it well and you’ll have my full support. The concept is simple, mark your current location by pressing the “Park” button, record a note and/or take a picture if you like, and ParkBuddy keeps track of your location and time you parked so it is easier to find your way back–that’s it! Time to return, hit “return” and you are ready to navigate back to your recorded location. The developer added a standard disclaimer, but don’t let it discourage you, it’s pretty much status quo verbiage when it comes to any GPS driven app…
The app waits 10 seconds to receive your location with an accuracy of 10 meters. After 10 seconds, it will grab your current location with the accuracy available at that moment (which is less accurate than 10 meters).
