Macotakara is following up one of their earlier reports in which they claimed that the iPad 3 announcement event would be held in February. In their new report they claim that there will indeed be an event held in February, but will lack a product announcement. They also now claim that the iPad 3 announcement and launch will occur sometime in March.
So, to set everything straight, a Japanese blog with a spotty track record in regards to accuracy, that claimed that the iPad 3 introduction would occur in February, is now claiming it will occur in March. However, February will still see a media event, but one lacking a product announcement. Right.
I think they’re half right. That is, the next-generation iPad will be unveiled and launched in March. This gives enough time for the people that received the iPad 2 during the holidays to not feel so quickly outdated. However, if Apple has something to say that is not a product announcement, I can’t see them holding a special event for it. I can see them making their statements during the iPad event depending on the subject matter. In other words, I don’t expect an event in February.
[UPDATE] The ever-well-informed Jim Dalrymple of The Loop reports that Apple will not be holding an event in February. He’s proven to have very reliable information, and I really wouldn’t bet against what he says.
