Brian Lam on Happiness + Technology

 

Here’s a post I’ve actually been meaning to link to for a while, : Brian Lam’s Wirecutter post, entitled ‘Happiness Takes (A Little) Magic‘. It’s certainly not news, but it’s as pertinent now in early February as it was in late January, so I’m linking anyway. 

As much as I may love reviewing apps and discussing exactly how I’ve set up iOS 5 notifications, it’s always a good idea to step back every now and then to re-evaluate how much of life my life I’m living online, as opposed to offline. Some of the examples that Lam uses are a little NSFW, but they still really hit home for me.Ultra-connected portable tech like the iPhone in my pocket and the iPad in my bag is almost seductively easy to use, and I’m glad that widely-read techies like Brian Lam are still trying to actively think about how to use all of the toys tools at our disposal.
