As you probably already know, the iPhone 4S has an option that you can enable in Settings – General – Siri called “Raise To Speak” that allows you to summon Siri by merely raising the iPhone to your ear any time the screen is on. However, you can also use this feature any place that you can dictate – such as while composing an email or text message. Simply tap into the text entry field, raise the iPhone to your ear, and dictate away!
In practice, I’ve found this method raises my spoken accuracy rate versus speaking to the iPhone while holding it in front of me, but not quite as high as when I use my Jawbone Era headset, which features noise canceling. Your mileage may vary!
