Here we are another day closer to the March 7th iPad announcement, and yet more components destined for the next-generation iPad are beginning to show up. Last week a report surfaced showing what they claimed was the front glass, and digitizer for the display. The only noticeable difference between that component and the same iPad 2 component was the location of the ribbon cable.

Repair Labs is now reporting that they have received two of these parts, one in black and one in white. This seemingly confirms that the new iPad will come in the same white and black options, and will retain the home button, even though recent speculation has suggested otherwise.

Along the same lines, DigiTimes, who has been handedly issuing rumors lately, is now reporting that production of the pixel-dense 2048×1536 resolution displays destined for the iPad 3 was slow to ramp up. Production will reach its full potential in the second quarter.

Expect shortages when the new iPad launches and for sometime afterward.
