I showed up at my small town(Marietta,Oh) Walmart at 8, and eventually used all five chairs Walmart had kindly provided to take a nap. A sales clerk woke me up shortly before midnight, and I walked out with a 32G black Wi-fi unit – all five were the same color and configuration. Ended up at Walmart this morning, and a new sales clerk told me there were 17 people in line by 7 AM. I think the masses assumed the sale started at 8AM.

I seriously considered heading to my local Walmart to see what they had on hand. We are in a small suburb, and our Walmart isn’t nearly as busy as the others nearby, one of which frequents their yearly top 10 in sales. I decided to just stay home and wait for my preorder to show up today.

I am left wondering how they pulled this off. How did Walmart get permission do go at midnight, when others didn’t? Or, did BestBuy and other have the option and just decide against it?
