It can only help Walmart sell more of the Apple products it already sells. Good move, Apple and Walmart!

Of course they do. And who can move merchandise more effectively than the largest retailer in the world? It’s really a no brainer. Of course I can see the other end of the spectrum on this one, but it just makes sense to promote your merchandise in high traffic areas. Walmart already sold Apple products long before this store within a store showed up, and this will “highlight” their approach. Good move for both companies.

I am not one too “high” for Walmart. Walmart is a “sell to the millions of masses” type place. I enjoy their bargains as you do. However, sometimes we all want to feel like we are part of something big, expensive and luxurious. You get that when you buy Apple. You walk into the store almost feeling as if the product was made specifically for you and you walk out with something that is worth quite a lot. That is a great feeling. When you walk out of Walmart, you still feel great, but about getting such a great deal on something. Those are two totally different feelings. Apple’s strategy has worked, mastered by Steve Jobs and everyone he has chosen to succeed him. I would feel that putting Apple stores within Walmart would confuse Walmart and Apple shoppers alike.

I think it’s a great move on Apples part to expand their product line. There are so many people that shop at Walmart that you would never see in a mall (where my Apple store is) or any other “high end” looking store. I also agree with you that it will make Apple look kind of bad when they go to compare the nice looking stores to the Walmart stores. I guess all that really matters is if their profits increase or decrease. My guess is that they will increase and tht the Walmart store won’t have an effect on the current Mac owner.
