Apple could deliver a third color option for their flagship iPhone model come September 10th. Also, the iPhone 5C could phase out the iPhone 5 by the end of the year (and not be nearly as cheap as originally speculated).

I want the gold: iPhone 5S could feature ritzy third color option

Various reports, leaks, and internal sources are painting an interesting proposition for the next-gen iPhone. It is expected that the iPhone 5S will be available in the now traditional black and white color schemes, but Apple apparently has a third lined up for the handset: a gold/champagne finish.

The third color was first suggested months ago when SIM card trays for the iPhone 5S leaked, but speculation at the time didn’t reach the same fever pitch as it has now. In recent days (after the leak of a golden-hued shell purported to be that of the iPhone 5S surfaced) analysts and tech industry insiders have done their due diligence and now seem all but certain that we will see the new color.

One such analyst is Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, whose research also suggest that the iPhone 5C might not be as cheap as all had expected. According to Kuo, a price of $400 to $500 unsubsidized is more likely with the iPhone 5C replacing the iPhone 5 as it is phased out by the end of the year.
