This afternoon Apple released iOS 8.1.1 with bug fixes and increased stability and performance improvements for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. You can download the update by opening –>Settings–>General–>Software Update and select download and install. Additionally, you can also update your iOS device by connecting to iTunes via USB.
Jailbreakers beware!
If you are currently Jailbroken, stay away from this update, as it will break the Pangu Jailbreak released last month for Windows machines in addition to the Mac version just released last week.

As of the date and time of this posting, Apple is still signing 8.1. That could change, however, at anytime now since Apple is known to stop signing older versions of their OS within a few days of a new release.
