Yesterday, AT&T announced that both new, and current Mobile Share Plan customers were eligible for a free 5 GB upgrade for a limited time. No further details were offered except that the value was only going to be available for a limited time. Today the offer went live–and here is how you can get your 5 GB of extra shared data for free.
For demonstrative purposes, my step-by-step process is for those wishing to update their data plan via their web browsers. AT&T states that customers can also use the their MyAT&T app as well to switch plans and claim the extra data.
First, sign into your AT&T account and select “Change Plan”
At this point you are presented with a comparison graphic that shows your current plan on the left, and the upgraded 15 GB option on the right. The only difference between the two should be the amount of data available per month. In addition, you can add more data to your comparison upgrade to see how it would affect your overall monthly fees.
Now, you press on the “select this 15 GB plan” button to change your plan. When you do, a confirmation screen comes up with your summary of changes, and the option to select when your changes take effect.
