Apple today announced “Apple Research Kit” which is the company’s attempt to use iOS to help medical researchers better collect information by tapping into the mass user base and powerful features of the iPhone.
The software stack will be available next month but there are already 5 apps that will launch using the technology.
Research Kit has a ton of custom features that allow medical researchers to leverage the platform with their particular task in mind, for example, keeping customer/patient information 100% private with the information never touching Apple’s servers.
It’s awesome to see Apple leveraging their platform and technology that expand beyond entertainment and productivity and truly affect the world around us – and humanity – in a positive way.
